South Africa’s first provider of vendor neutral data centres, has secured the hosting of information and records management giant Metrofile .

Metrofile is the market leader in Africa for information and records management, both on and off-site. The company was established in 1983 and serves 8,000 clients across all sectors. Its activities involve information and records management, image processing, data protection and paper management solutions. The only provider of full end-to-end solutions in South Africa, Metrofile enables organisations to use, store, protect and recycle their records and information quickly, intelligently and cost-effectively.

The online backup solution is a core element of Metrofile’s all-inclusive data protection service, which includes automated backup software, unified email record management and secure backup storage. Locating the service in Teraco’s facility provides Metrofile with a trusted base from which it can continue offering its clients the best possible protection of their clients’ data against theft, software or hardware failure or other mishaps.

“Teraco’s world-class facilities with N+1 resilience and 99.999% uptime were the dealmaker for Metrofile. When you’ve got an online service such as ours, maximum security, business continuity and service availability is critical,” says Guy Kimble, Managing Director of Metrofile. “There’s also an opportunity to offer our back up services directly to the other tenants in Teraco to use for themselves or as the basis for a value added service.”

As companies increasingly move their information and records management online, Metrofile sees a great deal of opportunity in the digital side of its business.

“Teraco’s data centres are built and operated according to global best practices. Metrofile will get access to a flexible, technically superior, physically safer and lower cost environment by colocating their information systems with us,” says Lex van Wyk, managing director of Teraco. “Our vendor neutral facilities will also let them to choose between the multiple network and service providers already present in Teraco for greater flexibility in their choice of connectivity partners, a unique capability in the South African data centre market.”
