    Date: September 1, 2008

Johannesburg, 1 September 2008: Teraco has selected a large stand-alone building in Isando, Johannesburg as the site of its Gauteng data centre. Demand for the new colocation space, which will be fully functional by the end of 2009, is high, with a variety of new and existing clients interested in tenancy.

“The space is perfect and conveniently located for access from Johannesburg, Pretoria and the airport. We have secured 7MVA electrical power from Ekhureleni Power and the site sits on or near to the fibre rings of all the major carriers. The building is 25 kilometres from Sandton and more from Centurion and so presents an excellent option for DR sites, and the building is structurally well suited,” says Lex van Wyk, managing director of Teraco Data Environments. “It is highly secure and used to be a packaging warehouse, and so it was built with massive weight in mind meaning we have to do very little in the way of reinforcement to make sure it can handle the combined mass of all the equipment that will be housed in the centre.”
